9 Shelf Hanging Closet Organizer with 5 Drawer Organizers

There’s never a bad time to get organized. If you’re feeling motivated to organize part or all of your living space, by all means, act on it before the motivation passes!

For any organization project, having the right products at your disposal can help. Perhaps nowhere is that more true than in your closets. But with so many closet organizers on the market, it can be tough to know which one to choose. That’s why we tapped interior design gurus and searched the internet high and low to find the best choices available.

Stefan and Maegan Bucur, a Texas-based couple with a passion for interior design who are behind the Rhythm of the Home blog, love that this Amazon’s Choice closet organizer has a great form and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

“The quality of the materials is unbeatable for the price. Even though it's an affordable closet organizer, you can expect it to be very sturdy and reliable,” the pair told us. “The material that it's made of feels very good to touch and blends in nicely with the rest of the closet as a separate hanging drawer.”

The Bacurs added that this is a lightweight hanging closet organizer, so it's perfect for spaces where you do not necessarily have a sturdy bar on which to hang it.

Have a small closet? We love this three-shelf closet organizer that’s another Amazon’s Choice product with some 3,800 five-star reviews. Made out of washable cloth fabric, two rods and two metal hooks at the top ensure this durable hanging closet organizer stays in place. P.S. If you like this organizer, four-, five- and six-shelf versions are also available.

If you’re looking to organize your shoes, this one is a winner. It features a 360-degree-swivel stainless steel hook, 10 mesh pockets on the side for accessories like belts and scarves, and durable canvas shoe shelves. It’s available in grey, white, brown and black.

Interior designer Benjamin Stenson, the owner of Louisville, Kentucky-based Norsemen, a contracting company that helps homeowners implement the latest design ideas into their homes, likes this minimalistic closet organizer.

“It can be used for accessories, folded clothes, shoes, etc.,” Stenson said, noting that it also has built-in hooks that attach directly to the hanging rod. The grey fabric with trim looks nice in your closet, too.

“This is a perfect hanging closet organizer for kids. The available colors blend in very well with a kids' room and it is very practical,” said the Bucurs of this youthful option. “It has four open shelves and two drawers that can be used for shoes, clothes and nursery items.”

Adults, too, may find it handy in the closet of a home office space to keep work materials organized.

If you’re looking for something sturdy, this is the Bucurs’ go-to pick. “It can hold up to 30 pounds of weight on every shelf, and it comes with five removable drawers that have separators for socks, bras, shirts and underwear,” they said. “It comes with a Velcro rail attachment so that the edges are protected from wearing out.”

Another nice feature? This closet organizer includes three side pockets for added storage. With nearly 4,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, it’s safe to say customers love this one as well.

Over-the-door organizers are great for creating extra storage space in otherwise “dead air.” Home décor marketplace Riverbend Home checks all the boxes with this stylish over-the-door hanging closet organizer. It includes small, medium and large pockets with cardboard panels in each for added support, and comes in a nice white finish.

“This nine-shelf hanging closet is already divided into neat sections, making organizing your accessories far more convenient,” said Lily Wili, founder and interior designer at U.K.-based Ever Wallpaper. “The non-woven polythene material makes one of the sturdiest and long-lasting organizers. It will not detach or snap easily, and you can keep it in use for years to come.”

Wili also appreciates that the bins offer a smooth grip and easy removal for cleaning and transportation.

“In addition, there are mesh pockets stitched to the side. This bonus space can be used to store multiple items, for example, headbands, shoelaces or other miscellaneous accessories,” she added. Multiple hangers at the top ensure the organizer stays securely in place.

Purses are accessories many of us just can’t seem to Marie Kondo ‘em away. That’s where this two-sided closet organizer comes in. It’s designed to hold purses of various shapes and sizes, and the vertical hanging valet is space-efficient and also a great option for organizing silk scarves. Constructed out of strong steel metal wire, it attaches to any standard closet rod.

If you lack closet space or simply want to supplement, this substantial rack is a favorite of one of the interior designers we interviewed.

“This metal rack has a multi-partition layer design, allowing you to store larger items. It is durable and stable, making it safe to store heavy items,” said Stenson. “Its wooden maple shelves provide a vintage-looking, visually appealing element to this rack.”

This West Elm organizer is the best of both worlds: It creates shelf storage options in your closet without eating up all of your bar space. This nifty organizer gives you four shelves to hold folded clothes, shoes or handbags while also providing space for hanging clothes below. The organizer will hold up to 30 pounds and is held in place with four strong Velcro straps, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping off.

This organizer is ideal for dorm room organization or studio apartment living thanks to its compact footprint and detachable hamper. The three-shelf hanging closet organizer is perfect for holding a combination of clothing and shoes. It’s also great for storing items you frequently use, like headphones or bags, so you can access them easily and stay organized.
